|Veteran striker Esteban Fuertes was one of the heroes of round four|
with two goals in Colón's 2-3 away win against Godoy Cruz.
On Friday night San Lorenzo climbed to the top of the tablewith a 0-3 away win against All Boys. The San Lorenzo breakthrough came only minutes after Hugo Barrientos was sent off. Juan Carlos Menseguez opened the scoring, Pablo Velezquéz scored his first goal for the club after Menzeguéz set him up after combination play between the two players. Juan Manuel Salguiro polished off the win with a third goal late in the game.
Estudiantes recovered from their slip up against Banfield last weekend to win the La Plata derby against Gimnasia y Esgrima heaping more misery upon their fans and more pressure on manager Ángel Cappa. Estudiantes played the game without Verón but they did enough to win with a 51st minute Gata Fernández goal and a late penalty from Enzo Perez. With nine points from their four games Estudiantes took over at the top of the division again.
Newell's Old Boys and Huracán had an entertaining encounter in Rosario. Newell's were two goals up but Huracán pulled it back to lead 2-3 before halftime. Newell's got a deserved equaliser in the second half which featured an improvement in defensive play from both sides.
Racing Club got off to a blinding start against Olimpo scoring three goals in the first seventeen minutes and playing confident and classy football for the remainder of the first half. When Racing scored their fourth at the beginning of the second half a lesser team could have folded but Olimpo showed the determination of a side that is both fighting to avoid dropping into the automatic relegation zone and also to return to the top of the table. They bagged three goals in a seven minute spell, two from Maggiolo and once from Bianchi Arce. Olimpo had given themselves more than half an hour to find one more goal for a famous result but Racing looked the more likely scorers with Hauche looking particularly good. Racing were relieved to take the tree points and with them they joined Estudiantes as league leaders. This was a much better game than the Newell's encounter but both games were great adverts for Argentine domestic football yielding thirteen goals between them.
Sunday's five games kicked off with a 2-1 win for Banfield against Lanús. The home team lead nearly the whole game after a twice taken penalty from Enrique Bologna which was initially saved by Mauricio Caranta but the referee ordered a retake for encroachment. In the last few minutes the game went a bit crazy, Banfield doubled their lead with a goal from Jorge Achucarro in the 89th minute (his third goal in four games), then Lanús pulled a goal back in the 96th minute through a Mario Regueiro free kick.
After their midweek defeat to Peñarol in the 2011 Copa Libertadores, Godoy Cruz went down to another home defeat against Colón. Club legend for the visitors Esteban Fuertes scored an absolute screamer to put them 1-2 ahead at half time and also bagged the winning goal in the 87th minute for a valuable 2-3 win.
After Olimpo's defeat on Saturday River Plate and Argentinos Juniors remained the only unbeaten teams in the league and after a 0-0 draw at El Monumental they both remain unbeaten. River have slipped to 3rd place one point behind the leaders Racing and Estudiantes. Argentinos Juniors are way down in 13th position having drawn all four of their league games so far this season.
Quilmes are in big trouble after losing their fourth consecutive game. They were beaten 1-2 at home by Tigre who came back from a goal down with goals from Denis Straqualursi and Mariano Etcheverría to win this vital relegation battle.
Defender Fernando Ortiz was the hero for Vélez Sársfield in their game against Boca Juniors, his 38th minute header from a corner was the only goal of the game. Vélez clambered up into mid-table with their first league win of the season while Boca Juniors lie down in 17th place.
Independiente still couldn't break their fifteen game winless streak and lie 19th and second bottom after going down to a humiliating 3-0 defeat against "tiny" Avellaneda rivals Arsenal. The game is an Avellaneda derby but Arsenal are such a small team with few fans and no real history that Independiente and Racing often fail to take it seriously, however a look at the records now shows that Arsenal have more wins in league games between the clubs than Independiente, they lead 7-6 overall and 4-2 on their own pitch. Arsenal won the game with goals from Caffa, Krupoviesa and Leguizamón.
