Match reports

In the opening game of the round league leaders Atlético Rafaela could only manage a 0-0 home draw against Newell's Old Boys, a second consecutive clean sheet for the visitors and a third game without defeat sees them remain in a comfortable mid table position.

In the second game Colón secured a comfortable 3-1 home win against San Lorenzo to move to within two points of the overnight leaders. Veteran striker and club legend Esteban Fuertes bagged two goals and Federico Higuaín rounded off the win with a late third after Emmanuel Gigliotti had pulled one back for the visitors.

Estudiantes suffered a 1-3 home defeat to Tigre, a result that would have been mindblowinh a year ago, but these days Estudiantes have the worst home record in the division having gone nine games without a home win. Estudiantes lie second bottom with only two points cushioned from bottom place only by the dreadful form of Banfield. Tigre have slowly crept up into fifth place in the table, inspired perhaps by the fact that they look certain to be relegated if they don't achieve a hefty points tally over the 2011-12 season.

Racing Club kept themselves in the title chase with a 1-0 home win against Olimpo, a valuable three points it was, but no spectacle like the cracking 4-3 result the last time they hosted Olimpo in the league.

The result of the weekend was undoubtedly Godoy Cruz thrashing All Boys 6-1. After a stuttering start to the season El Tomba have started firing on all cylinders as All Boys found to their cost. The visitors went ahead midway through the first half but then found themselves blasted from all angles as six different Godoy Cruz players bagged themselves a goal each.

Banfield continued their astonishingly bad start to the season with a sixth consecutive defeat, having failed to score in any of the games. To be fair to them they have not been badly thrashed in most of them, Sunday's 0-1 home defeat to Arsenal was their fourth consecutive defeat by one goal to nil.

Belgrano crept up the table again with a convincing 2-0 win against Independiente and Unión another of the newly promoted sides from the interior pulled off the shock result of the day with a 0-1 away win against the reigning Argentine champions Vélez Sársfield.

Boca Juniors climbed above Atlético Rafaela to the top of the table with a 1-0 home win against San Martín and in the last game of the round Lanús joined Boca at the top of the table with a thumping 0-4 away win at Argentinos Juniors.

Every single team in the bottom seven at the end of the 6th round lost their games, while Atlético Rafaela were the only side in the top nine not to manage a win.
